December Captains Report

December Monthly Medal

The last Monthly Medal for the year was contested in wet conditions on the 2nd December.  It was a close contest, but Mark Klaver prevailed in the tough conditions scoring an impressive nett 72.  It came down to the last hole with Mark needing a Par to secure the medal on a count back.

Master Medal

Now that all Monthly Medals have been played for the year, the 12 winners will play off for the Master Medal on February 3rd next year.  The winner will be the best nett score from the following players: Glenn Bayne, Shane Davidson, Rhys Rata, Craig Stevens, Paul Barratt, Damon Whaley, Jake Simpson, Chris Stoker, Pete Smith, Mark Stewart, Mitch Dyer and Mark Klaver.

2nd – Pete Smith 804

3rd – Chris Stoker 793

4th – Mark Stewart 625

Sunday Competitions

Sunday competitions are gaining traction, with field sizes increasing each week.  These are open to members and visitors with the cost and prize allocation remaining the same as our normal competitions.

Nearest The Pins

Some of you have noticed that MiClub have updated their App to allow Nearest The Pins to be entered.  I encourage all players to take the opportunity to use this feature.  For those who use cards, a playing partner using the App can put your name down for you.

In the coming weeks, new flags will appear on the Par 3’s. These flags will have the sponsor of the prize for that hole.  Prizes for Saturday’s nearest the pins are available to collect from the Pro Shop.

Premier League

The Spring Premier League has come to an end with the Final played last Saturday.  Team FOFO and Team Duart’s both won their Semi Finals to face off against each other in the Final.  It was FOFO who got the better of Duart’s, scoring 71 points to 64 points.  Glenn Robinson and Kelly Belcher were the top 2 scorers for FOFO with 36 and 35 points while for Duart’s, Tristan Ashby scored 33 points and Pete Daniel and Ian Good both had 31 points.  The Autumn version of the Premier League will kick of in late February next year.

Drouin Garfield Challenge

Once again we have the chance to claim the Drouin Garfield Challenge back, this time it is played on our home turf.  The date for the challenge is Saturday 20th January, a flyer will be up on the notice board for anyone wishing to put their name down to play.

2024 Golf Competition Program

The program for next year is now complete and attached to this report.  Some minor changes have occurred for Wednesday’s, 2 Stroke rounds and a Four Ball Best Ball have been added.  For these Stroke rounds, a cap of nett 4 over will apply, players may pick up and a score of nett 4 over will be scored.  On Saturday’s, 4 two round competitions have been added in each season. These are the Autumn Amble, Winter Wade, Spring Sprint and Summer Stroll.  A shootout tournament will also take place where 19 qualifiers will take part in a hole-by-hole elimination over 18 holes, until 1 player is left.  More information on this will be available closer to the date.  Lastly, an Eclectic competition will run for the whole calendar year.

Merry Christmas

As this is my last report for the year, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
