February Captains Report

Monthly Medal

Congratulations to Shane Davidson for winning February’s Home Timber & Hardware Monthly Medal.  Shane had an up and down front nine but managed to make the turn net 1 over.  It was the back nine where he started to make his move with a birdie on 10, followed by 5 consecutive pars.  A birdie also came on 17, finishing with a 35 off stick back nine and a total of net 67, 1 shot ahead of his nearest rival.

Club Championships

The Club Championships are underway, with Round 1 commencing last Saturday.  The Championships will continue through the next 2 Saturdays.  On the Final Round of the Championships, the top 4 Gross leaders for each Grade will be allocated a tee time.  If possible, we encourage those players to play at this designated time. This is because a tie in any of the grades in the Gross Competition requires a Playoff to determine the winner.  Current standings are available on the Club’s Website under the Leaderboard tab.

Master Medalist

Last Saturday saw 10 of last years Monthly Medal winners contest the Master Medal.  It was tight at the top, with only 3 shots separating the top 3 players.  Congratulations go to Tristan Ashby who shot an impressive net 70 to win by 2 shots.

Drouin Family Hotel Challenge

Heading into the final stretch of the Drouin Family Hotel Challenge, Chris Stoker still holds onto a healthy lead but Tristan Ashby managed to claw back some points last Saturday.  With his win, Shane Davidson has sky rocketed into 3rd place with Peter Morris closely nipping at his heels.  This seasons competition ends at the conclusion of the Club Championships.

Plates

The Plate season is now finished for a couple of months.  I would like to thank all players who represented the Club at these events.  From September last year, our Club attended Plate Days at Yarram, Leongatha, Toongabbie, Heyfield, Maffra, Moe, Yallourn, Garfield, Trafalgar, Woorayl, Traralgon & Foster.  Whilst we were unable to win a Plate, we had some good individual performances.

Pennant

Pennant starts this Sunday for our Handicap Divisions.  Handicap 1 has a bye to start, while Handicap 2 will be playing Morwell at Deep Creek.  Best of luck to all players this season and we will keep members informed on how our teams are going.
