Yesterday saw the conclusion of the Men’s Club Championships and the Junior Girls Championships.
Lachie Bambridge claimed his 2nd Club Championship. After leading by 2 strokes after 2 rounds, things got close after 12 holes of the 3rd Round. Ryan Hammond pulled level with Lachie and Matt Long sat 1 shot behind the leaders. Lachie stayed steady over the closing holes eventually winning by 2 shots over Ryan with Matt a further shot back.
B Grade got as close as possible with Adam Cooper and Chris Perry finishing equal after 54 holes. Adam started the day 3 shots clear of his nearest rival and 5 shots clear of Chris. By the 7th hole Chris took the lead and lead by 3 shots at one stage. Adam fought back to level the scores by the 17th. After halving the 1st Playoff Hole, the players headed to the 8th, where par was good enough for Adam to claim the Championship.
C Grade also was a close contest. Chris Stoker teed off early and set the target of 265. Ray Haley who started 2 shots clear of Chris at the start of the day ended up been even with him after 12 holes. Ray then only needed to play Bogey golf in the last 6 holes, which he did with 4 bogey’s, 1 par and a double to win by 1 Stroke.
D Grade saw Marty Green and Scott McKinnon locked for the lead after the 2nd Round. Marty revelled in the tough conditions and led comfortably all day and ended up winning by 12 shots.
After not contesting the Senior Championship last year due to a conflicting golf tournament, Mark Allen claimed his 2nd Senior Championship by 37 shots.
For the 2nd year running Zach Bambridge won the Junior Boys Championship, winning by 29 shots.
History was created this year, with the introduction of the Junior Girls Championship. 2 girls contested this event with Ciara Davies winning the Gross Championship with 279 strokes. Remi Jeffrey won the Nett event with 202 strokes. I think it will be great to watch the progress of these 2 girls over the next few years and hopefully next year we will have more players contest this championship.
Nett Winners were
A Grade – Matt Long
B Grade – John Hutcheon (On Countback)
C Grade – Stuart Benjamin
D Grade – Marty Green
Seniors – Stuart Benjamin
Junior Boys – Zach Bambridge
Junior Girls – Remi Jeffrey
The Ladies Club Championships will finish this Tuesday. Good luck to all players.

Once again thanks to Simon Appleby from the Drouin Family Hotel for his generous sponsorship of this event.
